Audio Loops and MIDI drums

This often forms the core of the track and all artists put in a lot of effort to derive specific drum beats to create a certain mood and feel for the song. Producers are always on the lookout for drum kits that have that extra zip about them that can immediately capture the listener’s interest. There are many kinds of sounds available on the internet to help create the perfect hip hop beat. You can collect a wide range of claps, kicks, snares and hi-hats to help you while composing. There ideally two ways to go about this – General MIDI or audio loops.

Audio loops are easiest to use and the producer can shorten or increase the lengths of loop composition of the drum bits while composing from a sequencer. On the other MIDI are slightly more complex but gives you a vast array of choices to mix and tinker around with your sound.

Bass lines

This is fairly easy once the loops have been composed. Bass lines in hip hop are usually added to heighten sound quality rather than act as a separate medium in the background. You can use MIDI which has some cool bass samples.

Effects addition

The track can be more enriching with the subtle addition of effects. This can be done by giving a controlled reverb to the clap or by including a bass effect to elevate the kick. Care must be taken to ensure that these effects are used properly so that they do not interfere with the aesthetic quality of the track.

Master Track

Keep working on the hip hop beat until you are fully content with the quality of sound you have put together. All the components of the song should be able to seamlessly integrate with one another to elevate listening experience. Care also must be taken to ensure that the loudness quotient of the beats is spot on without interfering with melody.
